Journeys in Solidarity - Battersea Penpushers running around Battersea Park
Team
Battersea Penpushers
About
Each year millions of people around the world have to flee their homes and make long, difficult and often dangerous journeys across land and sea to seek safety.
This September Nick Rogers and Hilare, a.k.a. Battersea Penpushers, are taking part in Journeys in Solidarity to help Freedom from Torture collectively travel 3000 miles and stand in solidarity with survivors of torture who have been forced to make perilous journeys to safety. Our target is to run around Battersea Park every other day in September, a distance of approximately 1.7 miles or 2.8 kilometers. Two penpushers, running 1.7 miles each over 15 days equals 51 miles. We can do it!! For transparency, we will alternate running and fast walking around the circuit, mostly running, but walking on tarmacked areas, which are punishing to middle-aged joints!
Freedom from Torture is the only UK-based human rights organisation dedicated to the treatment and rehabilitation of torture survivors. Your support could help provide counselling, group therapy and ongoing support for survivors of torture. Your donation will help give someone hope and strength on their journey to recovery.
